Comprehensive Renovations of a Grade II-Listed Cottage

Hampstead, London

Designed by Marina K Hammer

This 2024/2025 project involved the exquisite renovation of a 4-bedroom Grade II Listed house, originally designed by Parker & Unwin in 1908. Working closely with an interior designer, the project carefully preserved the property's historical charm while introducing modern comforts and design elements, ensuring the house remains a timeless masterpiece.

BEFORE

The exquisite 4-bedroom house, though not in a very bad condition, was in need of modernisation. Its original features remained intact, but the property required updating to meet contemporary standards of comfort and functionality, while retaining its historical charm.

BUILDING PROCESS

During the renovation, the electrics were completely renewed to meet modern standards, ensuring both safety and efficiency. New flooring was installed throughout, and the bathrooms were fully renovated. The design also emphasised the property's original architecture, with a stunning opening in the kitchen eaves to create a higher ceiling, and exposed beams in the reception room that celebrate the home’s historical significance.

COMPLETION

With the house complete, it truly becomes a home when it's filled with memories and carefully chosen belongings. Each item has been thoughtfully placed by the interior designer to create a space that feels both personal and considered.

Heart of the home

The kitchen is a standout feature, with refined craftsmanship and a well-planned layout. It balances style and function, creating a space that’s both inviting and easy to use.
